Characterization of Diaporthe spp. Associated With Spruce Decline on Colorado Blue Spruce in Michigan
نویسندگان
چکیده
Since 2006 there has been a decline in Colorado blue spruce (CBS; Picea pungens) planted as landscape trees and for Christmas tree production throughout the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. This is characterized by slow loss needles lower portion starting at branch tips, followed entire dieback, which progresses upward over several years. dieback linked to shallow cankers visible phloem when bark layer removed. Isolates fungal genus Diaporthe have consistently isolated from lesion margins on symptomatic branches. Before initial reports declining CBS trees, was known only nursery disease CBS. To determine species Michigan, seven gene regions were sequenced collection isolates collected 2011 through 2018 other coniferous hosts. Subsequent phylogenetic analyses indicated that eres novel clade present The new D. brevicancria nov. described, Koch’s postulates confirmed eres. produced largest greenhouse pathogenicity trials, dual inoculations intermediate cankers.

Climate factors associated with historic spruce beetle (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) outbreaks in Utah and Colorado.
This study investigated relationships between climate and historic spruce beetle, Dendroctonus rufipennis Kirby (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), outbreaks in northern and southeastern Utah and western Colorado between 1905 and 1996. A chronology of outbreak years was constructed from historic records, research papers, newspapers, and other sources of information. Historic climate data for the regio...
متن کاملOphiostoma spp. associated with pine- and spruce-infesting bark beetles in Finland and Russia
The timber and pulp industries of Finland rely heavily on importations from Russia as source of raw timber. These imports raise the risk of accidentally importing forest pests and pathogens, especially bark beetles and their associated fungi, into Finland. Although ophiostomatoid fungi have previously been reported from Finland and Russia, the risks of accidentally moving these fungi has prompt...

Characterization of glutathione S-transferases in needles of Norway spruce trees from a forest decline stand.
Glutathione S-transferases (GST) detoxify many electrophilic xenobiotics, including several volatile organic compounds and pesticides. The GST activity for the conjugation of several xenobiotic substances was isolated from needles of Norway spruce (Picea abies L. Karst.) trees from a forest decline stand in the northern alps. Trees that exhibited different degrees of damage were selected from s...
متن کاملA tree-ring reconstruction of western spruce budworm outbreaks in the San Juan Mountains, Colorado, U.S.A
Tree-ring records were used to reconstruct spatial and temporal patterns of western spruce budworm (Choristoneura occidentalis Freeman) outbreaks in mixed conifer forests of southern Colorado. Reconstructions in 11 host stands showed a regionally synchronous pattern of at least 14 outbreaks during the past 350 years. Intervals between outbreaks were highly variable within stands, but at the reg...
